Ken Captures Competent Cummincator Award
Jul 26th, 2009 by Ken

Last Tuesday I gave my tenth manual speech to win the Competent Communicator Award at the Dripping Springs Club. Amy Samet gave me the award. When I joined back in March I saw her win our area speech contest with this speech. She inspired me to work harder on my speaking. From there I was invited to go to the Spring Conference in May. There I saw her win our district contest and she inspired me again.

At the conference I got invited to visit a lot of other clubs. I became the ‘Travlin Toastmaster’ and visited four of them. I eventually joined the two that were closest to me so that I could make more speeches. It just so happened that Amy Samet was invited to the Dripping Springs Club to be the Toastmaster in a backwards meeting. What a special experience. The lady that inspired me got to see my tenth speech and present me the award. Thank you Amy Samet, you saved my life. I am sure that you have inspired a lot of us.

Travlin Toastmaster Takes It To China
Jul 17th, 2009 by Ken

The Amazing Friday Toastmasters in Shanghai, China were following this blog. I got an email from Zheng Yongfeng. He said that he knew me from my blog. I guess he watched my corny videos. He asked me how to make a blog for their club.

I gave him some space on my website host to use at amazing.kenstoastmasterblog.com. Their club seems almost the same as the clubs in the US. I am glad Toastmasters is International. It will help all countries understand each other better.

They went on a field trip and took this photo. They must have plenty of energy and teamwork to get a photo like this one. Their trainer for today’s meeting is known as “The Queen of Story Telling”. She is going to tell about the 3C’s of story telling. I wish I could be there. If I ever get to China on Friday I will certainly visit one of their meetings. Zheng tell me what happened.

Heroes of Oak Hill Recapture Banner
Jul 11th, 2009 by Ken

Six of us from the Oak Hill club went to the June 15th meeting at the Lake Travis club. We recaptured our Banner and took it home. It was a special meeting. The Lake Travis club had an installation of officers. There were plenty of dictionaries there too. We all had a very special experience. It is good to be a ‘Travlin Toastmaster’ because you get to meet many exciting people and see lots of different ways of doing things at the meetings.
